- Soil preparation: Farmers have to make sure the land is suitable. It needs to be loose and full of nutrients for plant growth.
- Sowing: Farmers place the seeds in the ground. This could also be known as planting.
- Irrigation: Farmers use many different methods to apply water. This could be using tubes, pumps or water.
- Manuring: Manure (animal dung) is used to fertilise the soil and help plants grow.
- Weeding: Pesky weeds compete with plants for space and nutrients! Farmers remove them by hand or using tools.
- Harvesting: Plants and crops are collected once they are grown and ready to eat.
- Storage: Farmers must preserve and protect their crops until they are needed. Correctly storing them also prevents attracting pests.
