We also learn that Scrooge is a mean person, who isn't getting any friends. He won't give anything to two men collecting money for the poor because he thinks they should go to the workhouse and he won't light a fire for his attitude even though he is freezing. At night he receives four visits. They are all ghosts. First, it is his old colleague. After that the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas yet to come show him different things that make Scrooge change his attitude and become a nice, compassionate man.
