- Temperate: Temperatures are high during the summer and they are low during the winter.
- Arid: Temperatures can be very hot and they can be very cold but they are always very dry. Sometimes referred to as desert climates.
- Mediterranean: Mild and wet winter, and warm, hot and dry summers.
- Tropical: Temperatures are warm during the entire year and there are no real winter cold temperatures.
- Mountains: Higher elevations mean cooler temperatures than that of the lower elevations of the region.
