Interphase(1) (G)
- The cell is in its normal state, preparing for division. DNA is in the form of chromatin, and the nucleus is intact.
Prophase (F)
- Chromatin condenses into visible chromosomes. The nuclear envelope begins to break down, and spindle fibers start to form.
Prometaphase (A)
- The nuclear envelope is fully broken down. Spindle fibers attach to the kinetochores of the chromosomes.
Metaphase (E)
- Chromosomes are aligned at the metaphase plate (equator of the cell) by the spindle fibers.
Anaphase (H)
- Sister chromatids are pulled apart to opposite poles of the cell by the shortening spindle fibers.
Telophase (C)
- Chromosomes arrive at the poles and begin to decondense back into chromatin. Nuclear envelopes reform around each set of chromosomes.
