- Start at the bottom with "Me" in the lowest box.
- The two boxes directly above "Me" are for "Mother" and "Father".
- Above "Mother", place "Maternal Grandmother" and "Maternal Grandfather".
- Above "Father", place "Paternal Grandmother" and "Paternal Grandfather".
- For each of the four grandparents, add their parents (great-grandparents) in the next row up: "Maternal Great-Grandmother", "Maternal Great-Grandfather", "Paternal Great-Grandmother", "Paternal Great-Grandfather", and so on for all four lines.
- In the top row, fill in the eight great-great-grandparents — two for each of the four great-grandparents.
- Ensure each person’s parents are connected by lines to their respective child box below.
- Label each box clearly with the correct familial relationship relative to "Me".
