- Fold the square paper in half diagonally to form a triangle, then unfold.
- Fold it in half diagonally the other way, then unfold. You should now have an X crease.
- Fold the paper in half horizontally, then unfold.
- Fold the paper in half vertically, then unfold. You should now have a plus (+) crease intersecting the X.
- Bring the top corner down to meet the center point, folding along the existing diagonal crease.
- Repeat with the bottom, left, and right corners, folding each to the center. You should now have a smaller square.
- Lift the top layer of the right flap and fold it upwards, aligning the edge with the center line. Crease well.
- Repeat with the left flap, folding it upwards to meet the center line.
- Flip the model over and repeat steps 7 and 8 on the other side.
- Gently pull the two side points outward to form the petals of the lotus flower.
- Adjust the petals as needed to give the flower its final shape.
