This worksheet is an activity, not a problem with a single correct answer. The answers depend on the data you collect by asking your classmates.
To complete it:
1. Ask each of your classmates for their birth month.
2. For each month, make a tally mark (a vertical line) in the "Tally marks" column.
3. After every four tally marks, draw a diagonal line through them to make a group of five. This makes counting easier.
4. Once you have asked everyone, count the total number of tally marks for each month and write that number in the "Total" column.
5. Answer the questions based on your completed table:
*
Question 1: Look at the "Total" column and find the highest number. The month next to that number is the answer.
*
Question 2: Look at the "Total" column and find the lowest number. The month next to that number is the answer.
*
Question 3: Add up all the numbers in the "Total" column. The sum is the total number of children you asked.
Parent Tip: Review the logic above to help your child master the concept of tally chart worksheet.
