Show Answer Key & Explanations Step-by-step solution for: Reflection, Translation, and Rotation Worksheets
Here are the instructions for drawing each shape on your grid paper.

a. Draw the REFLECTION of the shape.
* What to do: Flip the shape horizontally (like looking in a mirror).
* How to draw it: The original shape points to the right. Your new shape should point to the left. Keep the vertical straight line on the left side, but make the "arrow" part point left instead of right. It will look like the letter 'K' facing backward.

b. Draw the ROTATION of the shape.
* What to do: Turn the shape 90 degrees clockwise (like turning a steering wheel to the right).
* How to draw it: The flat bottom of the trapezoid is currently horizontal. After turning, that flat side should be vertical on the right side. The shorter top side will become vertical on the left side.

c. Draw the TRANSLATION of the shape.
* What to do: Slide the shape without turning or flipping it.
* How to draw it: Move the arrow up and to the right. Make sure it stays upright. Count the dots carefully: move every corner of the arrow 4 dots up and 3 dots to the right. Connect the new dots to make the same arrow shape.

d. Draw the REFLECTION of the shape.
* What to do: Flip the triangle vertically (like a reflection in a lake).
* How to draw it: The pointy tip is currently at the bottom. In your drawing, the pointy tip should be at the top. The flat vertical side stays on the left.

e. Draw the ROTATION of the shape.
* What to do: Turn the shape 90 degrees clockwise.
* How to draw it: Imagine the shape is an "L" lying on its back. When you turn it, the long slanted line will go from top-left to bottom-right. The short horizontal line at the top will become a short vertical line hanging down on the right side.

f. Draw the TRANSLATION of the shape.
* What to do: Slide the shape.
* How to draw it: Move the L-shape up and to the right. Keep it facing the same way. Count the dots: move every corner 3 dots up and 4 dots to the right.

g. Draw the ROTATION of the shape.
* What to do: Turn the shape 180 degrees (upside down).
* How to draw it: The opening of the "C" shape currently faces right. After turning it upside down, the opening will face left. The two prongs that were pointing right will now point left.

h. Draw the REFLECTION of the shape.
* What to do: Flip the shape horizontally.
* How to draw it: The original shape looks like a backwards "L" or a step. The vertical part is on the right. In your reflection, the vertical part should be on the left. It will look like a normal capital "L".
