In English, we are reading a paragraph called “The Hunger Games”; this story follows Katniss Everdeen through the games. One of the main catchphrases of the story is, “may the odds be ever in your favor.” However, for Katniss and her family, it seems that the odds are never in their favor. While Katniss becomes the symbol of hope, she never sees herself as a fighter. In fact, she states, “I’m not a fighter. I’m a new thought. I’m not sure exactly what it means, but it suggests I am a fighter.” In a sort of brave way, “I’m not as if I’m never friendly.” Additionally, Reba Johnson says in her book, The Making of a Warrior, that Katniss is better than any superhero!
