- Singularity: The point at the center of a black hole where all its mass is concentrated into an infinitely small space, resulting in infinite density and gravity.
- Event Horizon: The boundary surrounding a black hole beyond which nothing, not even light, can escape. Once matter or energy crosses this point, it is inevitably pulled toward the singularity.
- Accretion Disk: A rotating disk of hot gas and dust that forms around a black hole as material is drawn in by its gravity. Friction within the disk heats the material to extreme temperatures, causing it to emit radiation.
- Radiation Cones: High-energy jets of particles and electromagnetic radiation that are ejected perpendicular to the accretion disk from the poles of some black holes, powered by the rotational energy and magnetic fields near the event horizon.
