Number 1 is the superior vena cava.
Number 2 is the inferior vena cava.
Number 3 is the right atrium.
Number 4 is the right ventricle.
Number 5 is the pulmonary artery.
Number 6 is the pulmonary veins.
Number 7 is the left atrium.
Number 8 is the left ventricle.
Number 9 is the aorta.
Once deoxygenated blood leaves the pulmonary artery, it goes into the lungs. Here, blood absorbs oxygen and expels carbon dioxide.
When oxygenated blood arrives at the aorta, it circulates through the upper and lower body.
From here, it returns to the superior and inferior vena cava and the process is repeated.
Parent Tip: Review the logic above to help your child master the concept of how blood travels through the body worksheet.
