Let’s go step by step to solve this world map worksheet.

First, we need to understand what the compass tells us:
- N = North (top of the map)
- S = South (bottom of the map)
- E = East (right side of the map)
- W = West (left side of the map)

Now let’s label 1–4 using directions from the compass:

1.) This arrow points to the top of the map → That’s North → So answer is N

2.) This arrow points to the right side of the map → That’s East → So answer is E

3.) This arrow points to the bottom of the map → That’s South → So answer is S

4.) This arrow points to the left side of the map → That’s West → So answer is W

Now for questions 5–12:

5.) What ocean is to the east of Africa?
→ Look at Africa. To its right (east) is the Indian Ocean.
→ Answer: Indian Ocean

6.) What continent is to the north of South America?
→ North means up on the map. Above South America is North America.
→ Answer: North America

7.) What ocean is on the west coast of the United States?
→ West coast = left side of U.S. That’s the Pacific Ocean.
→ Answer: Pacific Ocean

8.) What ocean is on the east coast of the United States?
→ East coast = right side of U.S. That’s the Atlantic Ocean.
→ Answer: Atlantic Ocean

9.) What continent is south of Europe?
→ Below Europe is Africa.
→ Answer: Africa

10.) What continent is to the west of Asia?
→ Left of Asia is Europe.
→ Answer: Europe

11.) What ocean surrounds Antarctica?
→ Antarctica is at the bottom. The ocean around it is called the Southern Ocean (sometimes also called Antarctic Ocean). In many school maps, they may accept “Southern Ocean” or even “Antarctic Ocean.” But since the map doesn’t label oceans except by position, and based on standard geography taught in schools:
→ Answer: Southern Ocean

*(Note: Some older curricula might say “all oceans meet there,” but modern teaching recognizes the Southern Ocean as distinct.)*

12.) How many continents are there? Oceans?
→ Continents: There are 7 — Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia/Oceania, Europe, North America, South America.
→ Oceans: Traditionally 5 — Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Arctic, Southern.
→ Answer: 7 continents, 5 oceans

Double-checking all answers against standard geography facts — yes, all correct.

Final Answer:
1.) N
2.) E
3.) S
4.) W
5.) Indian Ocean
6.) North America
7.) Pacific Ocean
8.) Atlantic Ocean
9.) Africa
10.) Europe
11.) Southern Ocean
12.) 7 continents, 5 oceans
