Dichlorine trioxide: Cl₂O₃
Dichlorine pentaide: Cl₂O₅
Silicon dioxide: SiO₂
Phosphorus trichloride: PCl₃

The nature of the compound is determined by whether the carbon atoms are saturated or unsaturated. The bonds between the carbon atoms in (a) compound are single bonds, but in (b) compound, the bonds between neighboring carbon atoms are double or triple bonds. The organic compounds containing only hydrogen and carbon are called hydrocarbons.
