This worksheet is designed to help you practice reading and writing important "sight words." These are words that appear very often in books, so it is helpful to recognize them quickly without having to sound them out letter by letter.
Here is how to complete each part of the page:
1.
Read it!: Look at the word in the first column. Read it out loud to yourself or to a parent/teacher.
2.
Say it aloud!: After reading the word, say it clearly. If you read it correctly, put a checkmark (✓) in the box next to it. This helps track which words you know well.
3.
Write it twice!: Use the lined spaces on the right side to write the word two times.
* Notice the example for the word
"or". It was written twice on the lines.
* Try to keep your letters neat and sitting on the line.
The words you need to practice on this list are:
* but
* not
* use
* fan
* he
* she
* now
* after
* ask
At the bottom:
There is a question asking, *"Which of these words did you hear or read most today?"* Think about your day. Did you see any of these words in a book? Did someone say one of them to you? Circle or write down the word that comes to mind.
Since this is a personal practice sheet, there is no single "correct" answer for the whole page—it depends on your own reading and writing! Just make sure you read each word, check the box if you got it right, and write each word two times neatly.
Parent Tip: Review the logic above to help your child master the concept of sight words worksheet first grade.
