The Scary Night in the Old House
Last night, I had the scariest dream. I was sleeping peacefully in my bed when suddenly… *BANG!* A loud noise woke me up. I sat up, heart pounding. Was it real? Or just part of my dream?
I looked around my room. The wind rattled the window. Then… I saw it. A white, floating shape near the closet. It had no face, just two glowing eyes. A GHOST!
I was so frightened, I screamed at the top of my lungs! “AAAAAAHHH!” The ghost didn’t move. It just hovered there, watching me.
I didn’t wait to see what it would do next. I jumped out of bed and RAN! I sprinted down the hall, through the living room, and into the kitchen — but the ghost followed me! It floated silently, like a wisp of smoke.
I thought, “This is the SCARY house my grandma warned me about!” She said it used to belong to a lonely old man who never left… and now his spirit roams the halls.
I grabbed a flashlight and shone it at the ghost. “Go away!” I yelled. To my surprise, the ghost giggled — yes, giggled! — and turned into my little brother, wearing a sheet and holding a flashlight under his chin!
“Got you!” he laughed. “You screamed louder than a banshee!”
I was relieved… and a little embarrassed. But mostly, I was happy it wasn’t a real ghost. Still, I made sure to lock my bedroom door before climbing back into bed.
And guess what? That night, I dreamed of flying dragons instead. Much better than ghosts!
